An unforgettable groundbreaking event

In summer, building developer ORT held an extraordinary event to lay the foundation stone for the new Main Yard district in Frankfurt. The “Main Yard Time Travel” combined a digital cornerstone ceremony with a party at the SPARK location and built a bridge between the past and future of the location.

Planning challenges

The event should not only celebrate the start of construction, but also honor the history of the place and create a unique atmosphere. The culinary experience should reflect the theme of time travel and inspire guests.

Implementing time travel

ORT commissioned VARVANI to stage the laying of the foundation stone to create an immersive experience on a 30-meter long screen. An elaborate concept combined the past of the town with modern technology. FLOW THE KITCHEN took over the catering and developed a culinary concept that seamlessly integrated into the theme of time travel. The service team wore matching outfits to complete the experience.

Culinary highlights of a journey back in time

FLOW THE KITCHEN's catering included a variety of delicacies that took guests on a culinary journey through time. Flying finger foods such as poached salmon trout on green apple chutney and mini signature burgers made for a successful start. Hot dishes in a vintage bowl, such as homemade parmesan ravioli with local mushrooms and braised oxtail chocolates on truffle risotto, offered a hearty refreshment. On the terrace, guests were able to enjoy Frankfurter Rindwurst with homemade potato salad and Flow's grilled mustard mix.

The beverage concept was also a highlight. Flow's refreshing iced tea with ginger and vanilla and limonana with lemon and mint provided refreshment. A special cocktail, inspired by the legendary “Sun Mexico” bar in the historic Main Yard district, combined the aromas of mezcal, vermouth and pineapple to create a unique taste experience.

Success and recognition

The careful coordination of the culinary concept with the theme of the evening made a significant contribution to the success of the event. The guests were impressed by the food and drinks, which were presented in time travel. The event even received the renowned German Design Prize 2024, which underlines the quality and creativity of its implementation.
